Chinese Calligraphy
Chinese calligraphy has been around for over 2000 years and is one of the highest forms of Chinese art. Calligraphy Master Eric Lin has been practicing this art form for over 40 years, winning many prestigious awards for his skills. Have your special Lunar New Year message scribed by Master Lin as a treasured memento of this year’s celebrations.

Chinese Silk Embroidery & Workshops
Master Artist Jenny Gao, founder of the Xiu Zhen Ge Centre of Embroidery, will be returning for this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations. Jenny will be demonstrating the ancient art of Chinese Embroidery which she has practiced for over 20 years. As one of the oldest needlework styles, Chinese embroidery has a history dating back 2000 years. Take home embroidery kits will also be available to purchase during Lunar New Year, so you can make your own beautiful masterpiece!

Art, Craft and Cultural Displays
In celebration of the Year of the Ox, the friendly team from the Taiwan Women’s League will be displaying and demonstrating a range of traditional arts and crafts, including traditional paper cutting & Chinese painting. They will be transforming plain paper lanterns, masks and fans into beautiful works of art. With games to play and souvenirs for sale, make sure you drop by and visit for some Lunar New Year fun.

Sit back in recliner comfort and catch a newly released Lunar New Year film at HOYTS. At the start of each session, there will be a special traditional performance from AusOriental Orchestra & their talented friends to celebrate the Lunar New Year – Year of the Ox!
Plus, there will be special Lunar New Year performances by the students at J Percussion Music School.

AusOriental Orchestra & Friends
The sound of AusOriental Orchestra, is a group of local musicians who have come together for the joy of music. This non-profit group aims to use music as a means to bring people of all nations together to promote tolerance and harmony in a culturally diverse society. Along with the orchestra, Sunnybank Plaza audiences will also enjoy some Peking Opera and Chinese Dance performances featuring some friends of the AusOriental group.
